With the opening of the new Pioneer Village this fall, we are happy to announce the ribbon cutting of The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek. This is a great step forward in recreational activities provided on Shingle Creek for visitors of the Pioneer Village, Welcome Center and beyond.
The Paddling Center is located in the headwaters of the Florida Everglades, just across the street from the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum just off US 1-92 and just a short drive from the new Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek Regional Park. Shingle Creek Regional Park has become an urban oasis for the benefit and enjoyment of the community. Besides new park amenities such as a fishing pier, restrooms, and vending machines visitors and residents will be able to take full advantage of what The Paddling Center has to offer.
Here you will be able to paddle the Shingle Creek in a variety of ways from tandem kayaks, single kayaks, aluminum canoes and even large paddle boards. Tours are also offered on an 8-person captained electric boat perfect for picture taking, wildlife viewing and more. They also offer bike rental and camping packets and have an overall vision to provide edu-tainment to their guests. Blending information about eco, culture, and history in an entertaining narrative that is spiced with humor and perhaps fun activities (e.g., nature and/or wildlife scorecard, prize to first person to spot turtle, alligator, etc.) will allow the center to help visitors enjoy Shingle Creek in a safe and leisurely fashion.
We were happy to participate in the ribbon cutting on August 22nd among city and county officials and the owners of The Paddling Center to celebrate the beginning of this new adventure for Osceola County!
