Anza Bast Receives FAM Outstanding Volunteer Award

Posted by Kayla Smith on Oct 30, 2018 7:00:00 AM

Each year, the Florida Association of Museums honors those who help museums fulfill their individual missions. One such honor, the Outstanding Volunteer Award is given to a “volunteer whose service to a museum has made a lasting impact on the fulfillment of the institution’s mission”. Osceola County Historical Society has many wonderful volunteers and, as a result, decided to nominate one of them: Anza Bast.

Anza has served OCHS on and off for the last 10 years as a volunteer and as one of our Board of Directors. She has served at the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek, the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum, and at our archives and research library; assisting with weeding, planting, decorating, exhibit set up and maintenance, artifact and archive organization, research, and more. Anza’s commitment to OCHS has amounted to over 4500 volunteer hours.

“Her passion and her drive to preserve the history of Osceola County is evident each and every day” - Larissa Bixby, Program Director

“Anza has been wonderful to work with and is always willing to assist anywhere she can. Her knowledge and experience with our artifacts, library, and collection creates a wonderful opportunity for diverse and unique marketing content”- Rachel McIntee, Marketing and Development Director
