On October 4th, the Osceola County Historical Society and some of our most adventurous members headed out to Tenoroc Shooting Center in Lakeland, Florida to participate in our yearly Shotgun Shuffle.
You might remember that we explained it as almost a homage to the classic Duck Hunt, you know, everyone’s favorite Nintendo game growing up. It's kind of hard to not want to join in on an event like this when you know you are going to have that kind of fun.
The day of the event, we had perfect weather, pretty tough competition and great BBQ (Jeff Johnson from 9C Brand BBQ provided pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw and classic sweet tea...it was quite the feast). The teams participated in a 50 clay tournament to see who had the best shot, which meant they were also competing for prizes. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners all walked away with prizes as did the best individual shooter.
The winners were:
1st Place – Hanson, Walter and Associates Inc. Team 2 (who totally came out as team #1!)
2nd Place – Wild Florida (not just a sponsor for our events, but they join in, too!)
3rd Place – Hanson, Walter and Associates Inc. Team 1 (competing with their peers!)
Best Individual Shooter – Ashton Tyson from Wild Florida (Go Ashton!)
With over 29 participants at this year's event, our Shotgun Shuffle was a great success. So dust off your old Nintendo system, find your Duck Hunt game and gun controller and get practicing. It's the perfect way to get ready for next year's competittion.
