OCHS Employee Spotlight: Maggie Ferrara

Posted by Larissa Bixby on Oct 4, 2018 7:00:00 AM

Program Director, Larissa Bixby, tracked down OCHS’s super busy Venue Rental Sales Director for a quick get to know you. Maggie has been with OCHS for a year as of this month. Congrats, Maggie! She has created the Venue Rental Sales Department from a barely functioning, basement level operation to a flourishing business that highlights the natural beauty and unique spaces OCHS has to offer for your next celebration. When she’s not charging full speed ahead at work, Maggie keeps her energies high on a run, trying new things, traveling, or working out. You can definitely say that Maggie is energetic, but you’ll also be struck by how compassionate and joyful a person she is as well.

LB: Before we dive into the personal questions, tell me why you think it is important to preserve history?

MF: So it doesn’t repeat itself!

LB: What do you enjoy most about your position?

MF: Working with the event planners or brides to create special events.

LB: What is your personal motto?

MF: Everything is scary. Do it anyway.

LB: Do you have a personal philosophy to go with that?

MF: Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

LB: What’s one thing you can’t live without?

MF: My friends and family, and coffee. Definitely have to put coffee on the list.

LB: What is the greatest challenge you have ever had to overcome thus far in your life?

MF: Traveling the USA by myself for two years. I learned to be self-sufficient and a go getter.

LB: How do you define success?

MF: By how happy I am. Why do it if it doesn’t make you happy?

LB: That’s a great principle to live by. Do you have any words of wisdom that have stuck with you from your favorite film?

MF: Yes! “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Ferris says this in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

LB: I love that movie! It’s such a classic. Before you go, tell us something that might surprise us about yourself.

MF: I played full tackle, no pads rugby in both high school and college.

LB: While I think most people would be surprised by this, I can’t say that I am. Maggie has such a vibrant personality and go getter attitude that I truly believe she can do anything she sets her mind to do.
