The buzz lately around the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum has been all about Pioneer Day. It's a tradition of the OCHS to host this annual event but, this year, our Pioneer Day is more special than ever because it coincides with the Grand Opening of the new Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek. And really, that is a day we've been looking forward to for months now. From moving the historic buildings at our old site to having authentic replicas of Chickee structures built at our new site and everything in between, we've been working hard to make this dream of ours a reality.
When you head on out to the new Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek, you'll be taking a walk back in time to the days of the first Pioneer Families of Osceola County. While here, you'll get to see how the pioneers lived and take a tour of the new Pioneer Village. You can enjoy live music from Slickwood, a new addition to this year's Pioneer Day and originally from St. Cloud, who will be performing a smooth blend of folk and old school bluegrass. Kenyon Lockry, a veteran to the Pioneer Day scene, will also be performing a mix of old and new country. There will also be good food and plenty of activities for the kids, too.
"This year's Pioneer Day will be one for the history books as we celebrate the opening of the new Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek. We invite everyone to join in this historic celebration of our county's heritage on Saturday November 8th.It’s an event you won’t want to miss." -Donnita Dampier, Executive Director
