Every once in a while an event rolls around that you just don't want to miss...this year, that event is the Osceola County Historical Society's 26th Annual Pioneer Day Event!

Here are the Top 26 Reasons to Attend the 26th Annual Pioneer Day Event on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 10AM to 4PM!

1. Learn the History! Osceola County is full of rich history. Pioneer Day allows residents and visitors to better understand the Pioneer families and what life in the 1800s would have been like without air conditioning and cell phones. 

2. Help us celebrate our anniversary. This year we will celebrate the 26th Annual Pioneer Day.

3. Save on admission with this great FREE event! That’s right, we are offering free admission to the Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek. Saturday, November 11th  from 10AM to 4PM. FREE ADMISSION AND FREE PARKING!!

A Year in Review: 2016/2017 Annual Meeting Recap

The Osceola County Historical Society held it’s 2016/2017 Annual Meeting last night, September 21, 2017, in the Buster Kenton Room at the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum. Guests were able to stroll through the museum before and after the presentation to soak in all of the information of this state-of-the-art immersive nature and history museum including the current Tin Can Tourism Temporary Exhibit which is on display through October 15.

WHAT MY OCHS MEMBERSHIP MEANS TO ME… and WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER JOINING TOO!

My first exposure to the Osceola County Historical Society (OCHS) and resulting enthusiastic desire to join as a member began with a story about growth…

In 2011, a community development plan was being prepared for the Narcoossee Corridor with input from local residents collected via a series of public meetings organized by the Osceola County Planning Department and District 5 Commissioner Fred Hawkins, Jr. As a participant, the topic of local historic preservation came to my attention when information was shared that the historic circa 1886 Narcoossee Schoolhouse was slated to be moved out to the Pioneer Village in Kissimmee.
