Wild about Wild Willy's Airboat Tours

Wild Willy's .jpgFeeling a bit adventurous and wanting to disconnect with the hustle and bustle of the city? My husband and I decided to plan a trip out to Wild Willy’s Airboat Tours to experience Central Florida’s natural beauty. The summer heat played a huge role in deciding when to book our tour and with time slots available as early as 9AM, the decision was a no brainer.

We arrived 15 minutes early to walk the grounds and enjoyed the blissfully calming sounds coming from the canal as we waited under an old oak tree for our guide to greet us. Full of excitement, we boarded the airboat with our tour guide. He went over a few safety precautions and then we were on our way to explore Lake Tohopekaliga.

The airboat cut through the water as we approached our first stop. Camouflaging itself so well, we almost missed the opportunity to see this beautiful creature in its natural habitat. Alligators tend to sunbath in the morning when the sun isn’t at its peak. This little guy sat still long enough for me to snap a photo then he was back in the water before we knew it.

The tour was an hour long, although I could have stayed out there all day. Once we were back on dry land, our guide showed us to a small room attached to the gift shop and to our surprise it housed about 4 baby alligators. Without hesitation, my husband and I both reached our hands out, asking if we could hold one. Not knowing that included with each tour at no additional cost you were able to get up close and personal with one of Wild Willy’s baby alligators.
