The Young Friends of the Osceola County Historical Society awarded Angel Jimenez as their annual scholarship recipient this year. The scholarship was created to recognize outstanding high school seniors who are dedicated to preserving the history of Osceola County. Young Friends of the OCHS is a member and volunteer group created to assist in the preservation and education of the residents and visitors about the rich past of our county. With their fundraising efforts growing year-by-year it has allowed for them to impact more young adults looking to attend post-secondary schooling.
Angel was born and raised in Kissimmee, Florida making him a true Osceola County native. Every summer during his high school years he worked as a volunteer in the community including showing his commitment to the same vision of the Young Friends of OCHS by volunteering over 80 hours with the Osceola County Historical Society summer camp program. He also volunteered time and efforts towards the City of Kissimmee, Give Kids the World and the local Boy Scouts. Jimenez graduated in May from Osceola High School and plans to further his education through Valencia’s biomedical degree program with direct connect to UCF on the Osceola campus and then enlisting in the Air Force where he will finish his medical degree and plans to practice medicine for the Armed Forces.
